Electoral College

To win the US Election, a candidate must secure at least 270 Electoral College votes. Each state has a set number of Electorates based on their population. For example, WV has 5 electorates. Whichever candidate wins WV wins their 5 electorates. California (because of it's size) has 55 electorates.  On this website, you can predict the next election. States that are Red are current states that the Republicans lead in the polls (likely Trump). The Blue states are states that the Democrats currently lead (likely Joe Biden.) Gray states are "Battleground States" that are too close to call. Use this map to click on Battleground States to see who different outcomes could play out on election night. 270 is required to win. There could be a 269-269 tie. We will talk about that next week.
